Skills for Health provides workforce and organisational development solutions to the whole UK healthcare sector, ensuring better skills, better jobs and better health. The company is a not-for-profit organisation, committed to improving healthcare and patient experience by supporting employers to deliver high quality, cost-effective and sufficient services via jobs, skills and workforce. I met Skills for Health after they contacted Creative Cadence through a local media directory, regarding design of a course guide. I arranged a face-to-face meeting with their marketing manager to run through her requirements, as they were based locally in Bristol city centre. It’s always better to meet in person where possible to start building a client / agency relationship.
The client required an A5, six page guide to communicate their Level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners qualification. The document needed to work both as a printed item, and as a single page pdf download format for their website. In this scenario, we design the document as one, for sign-off purposes, then create two different files at artwork stage – one for print and one for web.
Skills for Health had existing brand guidelines, including fonts, colour palette and basic layout rules. They also had a library of existing photographic imagery, which we were allowed to add to using stock photography if necessary.
The client provided the copy, but the positioning and split of information was down to us regarding the layout composition in the guide. It was important to have photographic imagery on the front cover which helped depict exactly what the course involved, rather than having anything too ambiguous.
Skills for Health have now asked Creative Cadence to look at the design of their larger, main corporate brochure. We’re just awaiting finalised copy content on this at the moment, but hope to share with you in the near future.
